Gaming smartphone brand REDMAGIC’s latest flagship is the REDMAGIC 10 Pro, which launched late last year with a 6.85 Hz, 144 Hz display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, and a massive 7050 mAh battery. But now the company is introducing a new model for folks willing to trade a little horsepower for a thinner, lighter device.
The new REDMAGIC 10 Air launches in China on April 16, where it will sell for around $475 and up and it should be available worldwide starting April 23, 2025.
Like all REDMAGIC phones, the new model is aimed at gamers and includes features like a big battery, advanced cooling system (with liquid metal and a vapor chamber), and air triggers.
But while the REDMAGIC 10 Pro is a weighs 229 grams and measures 8.9mm thick the new REDMAGIC 10 Air is a 205 gram phone that’s just 7.85 inches thick. That might not sound like a big difference, but it could be enough to make the phone more comfortable to hold for extended gaming sessions.
As you’d expect though, REDMAGIC did cut a few corners in order to reduce the size and weight.
The REDMAGIC 10 Air has a 6,000 mAh battery rather than a 7050 mAh battery. It has a previous-gen Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip rather than Qualcomm’s current smartphone flagship processor, the Snapdragon 8 Elite.
REDMAGIC says its first Air-branded phone still packs a lot of premium features into a mid-range package though. It has a 6.8 inch AMOLED display with a 120 Hz refresh rate, 1600 nits peak brightness, and a 2,000 Hz instantaneous touch sampling rate (which drops to 960 Hz for continuous touch sampling).
There are 520 Hz shoulder trigger keys along the phone’s matte metal frame, a programmable “Magic Key” side button that can be used as a camera shutter or shortcut button for apps or user-defined actions, and RGB lighting effects.
Other features include support for 80W fast charging, a Redcore R3 co-processor (that’s said to reduce latency and aid with audio, visual, and haptic feedback while gaming), support for WiFi 7, and support for up to 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage (although there’s also a 12GB/256GB entry-level option). It has a 50MP primary camera, a 50MP ultra-wide camera, and a 16MP under-display front camera.
